Single Photon Detector
Quanfluence’s Single Photon Detector (SPD) is a state-of-the-art device designed for high-sensitivity photon detection, utilizing active quenching. The detector can be configured to work in gated or free running mode.
How It Works
1. Avalanche Biasing: The APD is biased above its breakdown voltage, creating a high electric field within the diode.
2. Photon Detection: When a single photon strikes the diode, it generates an electron-hole pair, triggering an avalanche multiplication of carriers.
3. Signal Readout: The resulting avalanche current produces a measurable pulse, indicating the presence of a photon.
4. Integrated Time Tagger: The patent pending integrated time-tagger improves readout accuracy and allows easier system integration.
