Quanfluence raises USD 10 million led by Chiratae Ventures to build a full-stack photonic quantum computer
Round led by Chiratae Ventures, with repeat backing from Pi Ventures and participation from Rainmatter by Zerodha
Bengaluru, 7 October 2026: Quanfluence, a Bengaluru-based deep technology company building photonic quantum computers, has raised USD 10 million in a funding round led by Chiratae Ventures. Pi Ventures, which led Quanfluence’s seed round in 2024, returned as co-investor. Rainmatter by Zerodha also invested in this round.
The capital will be deployed to build Quanfluence’s full-stack photonic quantum computer, bringing together indigenously designed photonic chips, control electronics and the software layer into a single system. The company has a roadmap with early processors by 2027 and larger scalable machines by 2029.
Since its previous funding round, Quanfluence has built out several of the core technologies required for its full-stack architecture. The company has designed and fabricated multiple photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and electronic integrated circuits (EICs), developed low-loss chip-to-fiber coupling designs, and demonstrated the generation of quantum light states. It has also made significant progress on photonic chips for light-matter interactions. In parallel, Quanfluence has moved parts of its technology beyond the laboratory: its photonic Ising machine has been productized, and several quantum devices developed by the company are now commercially available.
Sujoy Chakravarty, Co-founder and CEO, Quanfluence, said: “Our goal at Quanfluence has never been to build a better experiment. It has been to build a useful quantum computer. We chose photonics because we believe it gives us a path to scale. Over the last few years, we have built the core pieces: the ICs, the electronics, the optics and the algorithms. This funding allows us to bring those pieces together into a complete system.”
Started in 2021 by Sujoy Chakravarty, Ravi Mehta, Biman Chattopadhyay, Aditi Vaidya, Prof. Anil Prabhakar of IIT Madras and Prof. Sandeep Goyal of IISER Mohali, Quanfluence is incubated at the IIT Madras Incubation Cell. Three of its founders previously built Silicon and Beyond, a semiconductor IP company acquired by Synopsys. The team pairs that chip-design track record with expertise in quantum optics to develop its core technology in-house.
“As a fund, we are keen to back indigenous deeptech bets led by exceptional founders. Quantum Computing is at an inflection point and we believe photonics is amongst the most credible routes to a machine that scales outside the lab. What drew us to Quanfluence is a rare combination of a team that has already built and exited a semiconductor IP business, now applying that same engineering discipline to quantum optics,” shared Venkatesh Peddi, Managing Director & Partner, Chiratae Ventures.
“Since our initial investment in Quanfluence, we have seen the team make meaningful progress in translating their vision for a deeply complex technology into a credible path towards commercially relevant quantum computing. Building differentiated quantum hardware requires deep technical expertise, patient execution and the ability to attract world-class scientific and engineering talent, and Quanfluence has continued to demonstrate all three. Our follow-on investment reflects our growing conviction in the team, their technology, and the opportunity to build a globally significant quantum computing company from India.” Shubham Sandeep – Partner, Pi Ventures
“The global quantum computing landscape is at an inflection point, transitioning from academic curiosity to serious, industrial-scale development. For decades, India has been a massive consumer of deep technology built elsewhere; we are proud to partner with a team that is decisively shifting us to becoming creators of it. Building a universal quantum computer is an incredibly hard, highly ambitious mountain to climb. By taking a calculated risk on a highly differentiated photonic architecture, Quanfluence is carving out a completely unique path. What makes them stand out is their pragmatism. They are cleverly de-risking the massive long-term hardware challenge with near-term revenue streams, all while building a core piece of India’s sovereign quantum capability. This is a hardware-first, patent-backed bet on India’s deep-tech future, and we are glad to be doing our bit by supporting them.” Abhinav Singh Negi – Lead, Climate and Deeptech, Rainmatter by Zerodha.
